Dr. Nathan Averill was born and raised in Albany, New York. After graduating from Princeton University with a B.A. in Art History and Archaeology. Dr. Averill spent two years working as a ski patroller in the mountains of Colorado. He then completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Harvard University while working at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hopital Boston. Dr. Averill received his M.D. as well as a Master's in Public Health from the University of Kentucky in 2006 before moving to South Carolina to complete his residency in Family Medicine at MUSC. He joined Berkeley Family Practice in June 2009. His special interests include the treatment of diabetes, prevention of cardiovascular disease, and smoking cessation. Dr. Averill has three boys, Jackson, Hayes, and Crosby. He enjoys tennis, running, skiing, and spending time with his kids.
